SectorsAeronautics

We work for leading companies in programmes for the development of components and structures for commercial and military airplanes, focusing on those projects that involve the introduction of new materials or processing technologies.
Our offer revolves around three concepts: Development Engineering, Advanced Engineering, and Prototyping and Manufacturing.

Engineering and design

We have a dedicated Development Engineering Group which is capable of dealing with all project phases from structural analysis and design to manufacturing engineering.
We are vastly experienced in the use of computational tools (Catia V5, Nastran, Abaqus, ISAMI, PDM-Link, etc.).

We perform concurrent engineering from the initial phase of a project. We are proficient in the use and processing of most commonly used reinforced composite materials (thermoplastics, and carbon and glass fibre-reinforced phenolic and epoxy resins).

We have specific facilities for:

  • Processing (thermoplastic and thermosetting) polymeric materials and metallic materials.
  • Prototyping reinforced composite materials in open mould (autoclave, thermoforming) and closed mould (injection, RMT, etc.).
  • Analysing materials and characterisation of their mechanical, thermal, vibrational and acoustic properties.
  • Manufacturing special tooling.
  • Special testing on components.
  • Industrialising and mechanising production operations.

We have been responsible for the dimensioning and detail design of the metallic structure for the Belly Fairing of the AIRBUS A350 XWB family.

Advanced engineering

We characterise and validate all kinds of materials (metallic, plastic, foam, elastomeric, textile, composite) and their structural joints (riveted, welded, bolted, glued, etc.) by tensile, compression, flexural, peel, creep, impact, fatigue, failure, breaking point, and vibroacoustic testing.

We design and conduct component testing regardless of purpose: R&D&I, support, development, validation, or industrialisation. Once we know our client’s needs, we start by performing a virtual test in order to help us define the process. Next, we design and manufacture the required tools. Finally, we do the testing at our facilities. We are capable of conducting static, dynamic, vibroacoustic and fatigue tests according to wide range of loads, motions and frequencies.

With the knowledge and experience gained in the past fifteen years and our testing facilities for high-speed crash analysis for the automotive sector, we are ready to transfer our expertise and developments to the aeronautical sector to test occupant protection and injury mitigation systems for the design of helicopter and airplane seats, and simulate impact loads and energy absorption on the undercarriage for the design of energy absorption elements.

We propose and distribute our design concepts based on our capabilities for topological optimisation, providing the best structural solutions with minimum weight.

We perform studies of the sensitivity of dimensioning parameters in detail design by considering different load cases.

Prototyping and manufacturing

We have equipment and facilities suitable for prototyping and manufacturing any development:

  • Machining workshop for manufacturing parts and tools and milling parts.
  • RTM machine.
  • Autoclave.
  • 3D desk for dimensional and geometric control.
  • C-Scan equipment (UTS) and manually-operated ultrasound inspection equipment.
  • Cold room for raw material preservation.
