On 10 April 2025, CIDAUT took part in the III Energy Forum organised by El Español Noticias de Castilla y León, held in the Assembly Hall of the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce. The event, under the slogan ‘Clean energy in Castilla y León: a model of success and sustainability’, brought together experts, institutional representatives and companies to analyse the present and future of renewable energies in the region. The conference was opened by Silvia García, director of El Español Noticias de Castilla y León, who highlighted the region’s leadership in renewable energy generation, attributing it to the joint work of administrations, investors and entrepreneurs.
Alfonso Horrillo Güemes, head of the Energy Department at CIDAUT and coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Energy at the University of Valladolid, took part in the round table entitled ‘Castilla y León, at the forefront of hydrogen energy development’. He was joined by Alberto Andrés Alonso, director of hydrogen project development at Redexis, and Noé Martín García, CEO of the Collosa Group. The round table was moderated by J.I. Fernández, section head of El Español Noticias de Castilla y León.
During his speech, Alfonso Horrillo stressed the importance of hydrogen as one of the key solutions for the future of energy and said that hydrogen is not a new technology, but has been under development for more than 25 years. ‘What is clear is that hydrogen is the future, but also the present’. He also highlighted the importance of hydrogen-based technologies in the field of defence, specifically in the development of submarines, where advanced hydrogen-based storage and propulsion technologies are used.
CIDAUT’s participation in this forum reinforces its commitment to technological innovation and the decarbonisation of the energy sector, positioning renewable hydrogen as a key solution for the energy transition in the region.
The event was closed by Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones Fernández, Minister of Environment, Housing and Territorial Planning of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, who reaffirmed the community’s commitment to energy transition and sustainability.
