On April 15th and 16th, CIDAUT took part in the final in-person meeting of the European project r-LightBioCom, held at the headquarters of the project coordinator, AITEX, in Alcoy (Spain). The meeting marked an important milestone in the final stage of this European project, focused on the development of more sustainable and circular high-performance bio-based composite materials using efficient production processes for applications in the automotive, aeronautics and infrastructure sectors.
Over the course of the two-day meeting, project partners shared the latest technical developments and results achieved, while also discussing the next steps to maximise the impact of the solutions developed beyond the official end of the project. CIDAUT team presented the work carried out within several key work packages of the project. Regarding the rapid curing technologies developed by CIDAUT, the main advances achieved towards the development of innovative solutions for more efficient high-performance bio-based composites manufacturing were showcased. In addition, the results of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) activities developed by CIDAUT were presented, highlighting the importance of evaluating the real environmental impact of the new materials and production technologies to ensure innovation remains aligned with sustainability and circular economy principles.

CIDAUT also participated in the exploitation workshop organized together with the project partners, in which strategies to support the market uptake of the new developed sustainable bio-based composites materials and technologies and maximize their industrial and environmental impact were discussed. The final meeting provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration among consortium partners and highlight the work carried out during the r-lightBioCom project, reinforcing the shared commitment to developing more sustainable and efficient lightweight high-performance composites with inherent recycling properties for key industries.
